ATHENS – Scientists from the University of Georgia College of Family and Consumer Sciences have won the inaugural Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge for their work on an environmentally friendly textile dyeing technology, which uses nanocellulosic fibres. The team worked on a project using nano-structured cellulose in a dyeing process that is claimed to significantly reduce the amount of wastewater, inorganic salt and alkalis 'by a factor of ten'.
