BRUSSELS – A new EU report claims the use of chemicals in the European Union has become safer since the introduction of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), the wide-reaching EU regulation launched ten years ago. However, the report by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) also points out that further progress is needed – particularly concerning the quality of registration and classification data on chemicals submitted by companies.
