PHNOM PENH - A new report from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) claims Cambodia's garment sector will remain in a precarious position unless global brands significantly raise the prices they pay to manufacturers. The ILO's report 'Cambodian Garment and Footwear Sector Bulletin' notes that the minimum monthly wage in Cambodia, currently standing at US$140, has risen significantly in recent years while prices being paid by apparel brands from the US and Europe have stagnated, with competition from the likes of Vietnam and Bangladesh helping to keep prices flat.
