DHAKA - The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh (Accord) has terminated its members' relationship with a further six supplier factories in Bangladesh due to their failure to implement workplace safety measures. This follows on the back of the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety earlier last month announcing it had suspended seven factories for failure to show "evidence of remediation progress," a move which brought the total number factories suspended by the Alliance to 104. With the Accord itself having now suspended around 50 factories, and the remediation process for both Accord and Alliance members significantly behind schedule, a notable rationalisation of the Bangladesh ready-made-garment (RMG) sector would appear likely moving forwards.
