DHAKA – The increasingly contradictory nature of Bangladesh's ready-made garment sector is underlined by new figures which show that among the top ten rated apparel factories which have been LEED certified by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for their eco-friendly measures, four originate from Bangladesh. To date, 36 garment factories in Bangladesh have achieved LEED certifications, of which 12 are Platinum rated, 16 Gold and 5 Silver. Meanwhile, a further 195 Bangladesh garment factories have already been registered with the USGBC and all are expected to undergo the LEED certification process during 2017.
