LONDON - New research into the Syrian cotton sector suggests there is just a low risk of cotton associated with the Islamic State entering the supply chains of European manufacturers and, consequently, Western brands. The research was carried out by risk analytics company Verisk Maplecroft, which says the Islamic State controlled three-quarters of the land conventionally reserved for Syria's cotton production in 2015.
