WASHINGTON - US research recently examined the size and mass of microplastic fibres released from synthetic textiles during simulated home washing under controlled laboratory conditions. They researchers found that fibre staple length and/or debris encapsulated inside the fabric from yarn spinning could be responsible for releasing stray fibres.
