Mozambique looks to BCI to drive cotton sector

MAPUTO – In a bid to revitalise its cotton industry, the Mozambique government has partnered with the Better Cotton Initiative to set an ambitious goal to become the first country in the world to produce 100 per cent ‘Better Cotton’.

Although a relatively small grower of cotton in terms of global production, cotton is still a major contributor to Mozambique’s agricultural exports and is a main source of income for many rural communities in the African country.
