AMSTELVEEN – Global auditing firm KPMG has teamed up with Textile Exchange (TE) to publish its Threading the Needle report which details how the apparel industry can integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve its business prospects and reduce its environmental impact.

A number of TE members including: C&A, Gap, Patagonia, Lenzing and Target, along with a number of external contributors such as the ZDHC, World Resources Institute (WRI) and Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) provided insight into their respective companies’ efforts as part of the collaboration.

The in-depth report outlines one-by-one how the SDGs have driven leading apparel brands and retailers to adopt sustainable manufacturing methods, from reducing energy consumption to employing fairer worker rights.
