VANCOUVER – Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) CEO David Labistour, who has been heavily involved in sustainability efforts in the apparel sector, is stepping down after 11 years in the role.

Labistour ensured MEC played a part in the early days of the  Sustainable Apparel Coalition, and recently signed the Outdoor CEO Diversity Pledge, which aims to advance representation for people of colour across the outdoor industry.

Under his leadership, MEC – which sells outdoor recreation gear and clothing in Canada – has grown from 2.7 to 5.1 million members.
