PHNOM PENH – The approach taken by H&M group in its Fair Living Wage Strategy has been described as “bold and unprecedented” by the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI), with the caveat that there remain major lessons to be learned regarding implementation.

This follows the release of a report, commissioned by H&M group and conducted by independent reviewers, ahead of the Swedish retail group holding a Fair Living Wage Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The event coincides with the group’s self-imposed deadline for the implementation of a living wage strategy, set back in 2013. H&M Group states that two of these goals have been achieved, although neither contain any quantifiable data by which to measure progress.
