LONDON – During the recent Denim Première Vision exhibition fashion retailer C&A provided further details of its project to mass produce an affordable pair of ladies’ denim jeans certified to the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) ‘Gold’ environmental standard.

“Our vision at C&A is to ensure nothing is wasted,” explained the brand’s denim fabric manager Sevgin Sicim during a panel presentation at the London event. “A starting point is to produce with pure materials and safe chemicals, to reuse as much as possible and to consider water and energy usage at every stage of production.”

C&A launched the C2C denim jeans back in August, but due to a production snag during commercial scale production C&A had to re-classify some of the denim as certified to ‘Bronze’ C2C rather than at the more rigorous ‘Gold’ level. A situation it is now working to remedy.
