After spending time working in the development aid sector, the director of the German textile engineering firm Veit has returned to the family operation with a new vision for the industry.

New technology is often cited as one way in which the textile sector can reduce its impact on the environment. And at the forthcoming Techtextil and Texprocess shows in Frankfurt, and the giant ITMA exhibition in Barcelona – where Planet Textiles 2019 will be held – more engineering companies than ever will offer new environmental solutions.

Bavarian engineering firm Veit, which specialises in technology for ironing, fusing and pressing garments is one such business, which has launched a new automated shirt finisher that uses steam and air pressure to remove wrinkles, but also reduces, recaptures and recycles the heat energy used in the process.
