AMSTERDAM – 50 brand signatories of the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile will today make information relating to any internal malpractices in their supply chains, and how they deal with them, public due to a clause in the agreement which requires brands associated for a minimum of three years comply.

The coalition, which has the support of 89 partner brands, the national government of the Netherlands, along with various trade unions, representative organisations and NGOs, was forged in 2016 to clamp down on cases of malpractice across compliant companies’ global supply chains.

“This is an important step,” Pierre Hupperts, chairman of the Steering Committee said, noting, “it is a joint learning process that will help companies to move forward. We invite civil society organisations to share their findings with us and the brands.”
