BENGALURU – Garment manufacturing workers in the Indian city of Bengaluru will today protest at the doors of the Labour Department office as they demand an increase to their minimum wages.

It’s said that workers across other industries are entitled to monthly earnings of Rs 11,557 (around US$162), a sum subject to revisions every three to five years. Textile factory workers have, however, been held to the same basic wage that fails to meet minimum wage standards, and this has been the case for six years.
