NECKARSULM - German discounter Lidl has committed to ensuring that workers in its garment and footwear supply chain are paid a living wage by signing up to the ACT initiative.

The supermarket chain is estimated to be the fifth biggest grocery chain in the world and is the first German discounter to commit to ACT.

Stefan Haensel, CSR director at Lidl, said: “As a large textile retailer, we are committed to upholding human rights in our supply chains.
