AMSTERDAM – The ZDHC Group (zero discharge of hazardous chemicals) is in the final stages of developing a new draft document to provide guidance on how to reduce the impact of air emissions from chemicals used in factories and other air pollutants associated with the textile supply chain.

Slated for final release towards the end of June next year, the new draft guidance on improving factory air emissions will be finalised in the coming weeks and aims to complement existing ZDHC work on wastewater discharge and hazardous textile chemistry.

Speaking in Amsterdam, Scott Echols, programme manager at ZDHC said: “Many chemicals and solvents that are applied to textiles during production are designed to evaporate into air, so for workers and the environment, these can be a significant source of exposure.”
