GOTHENBURG - Swedish fashion retailer Lindex is to fund a project to train female cotton farmers in isolated rural areas of India in environmentally-friendly production methods.
The two-year project, in collaboration with the Cotton Connect organisation, will educate 350 women farmers in organic farming, business management, health and labour rights.
Anna-Karin Dahlberg, sustainability manager at Lindex, said: “As one of the world’s largest buyers of organic cotton, we are working to further increase the supply of organic cotton, while at the same time continuing the important work of strengthening women."
