PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s Council of Ministers will look to address the growing number of garment workers injured and killed in traffic accidents, as last month’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) report unearthed how upwards of 50 people will overload unsafe flatbed trucks to get to work.

It’s found that the number of incidents has risen in the past year, with 50 fatalities and almost 2,000 injured as a result of hitching rides. Labour Ministry spokesman Heng Sour has said the Council will clamp down on the matter by ensuring drivers hold licences, that they obey traffic laws and that their vehicles are safe.
