KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA - Stain resistant fabric manufacturer Crypton is claiming a breakthrough by making an oil-repellant material containing only 0.1 per cent fluorine.

The company says the new version of its signature product, also called Crypton, offers a reduced impact on the environment without sacrificing performance and durability.

Michael Grigat, vice president and lead chemist in Crypton’s North Carolina lab, claimed that the minute quantity of fluorine that remained in the material was necessary to extend its useful life.
