DHAKA - Textile mill owners in Bangladesh are appealing for financial support from the government to help them survive the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) said the country’s textile mills were sitting on a huge stockpile of fabrics and yarns because of the coronavirus lockdown.

The government has announced some financial help for export-orientated producers, which are suffering from cancelled orders, but not for Bangadesh's textile mills that only serve the domestic apparel market.
