DHAKA – An indicative survey of Bangladeshi garment workers finds that in the month of May, there’s been a surge in digital wage payments, more than three times as many as in April.
Perhaps inspired by ongoing efforts to minimise direct contact, the spike in online bank transfers has been well received by those on factory floors and could prove a pivotal moment for the infrastructure of the country’s RMG sector which has a history of employer/ employee disputes regarding such matters.
