DHAKA – There’s fears of a new spike in coronavirus cases across Bangladesh, after people were seen re-entering the country’s capital of Dhaka in their droves without respecting social distancing rules.
Images of locals disembarking ferries in their hundreds, having returned back to major cities following time away for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, have circulated and are spreading concern that an influx of new cases may be on the horizon as workers return to the factory floor.
The latest data, provided by the Industrial Police, suggests that there’s been more than 170 new COVID-19 cases since factories began to reopen in late April.
