VENTURA - Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario - widely regarded as one of the leaders of the movement towards sustainability in the fashion industry - is stepping down in a surprise move.

Marcario - who has overseen a transformation of the company, quadrupling sales while reducing environmental impact - leaves after six years as CEO and eight at the company, effective 12th June.

Chief Operating Officer Doug Freeman will take over the reins at Patagonia while the company board searches for a permanent successor.
