PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s Minister of Labour Ith Samheng has urged his peers in authority to address the plight of workers amidst the coronavirus pandemic, after yet more protests over factory closures and uncertainty over pay.
In a meeting with the Committee for the Settlement of Strikes and Demonstrations, Samheng urged local authorities to address the issues facing garment workers and find resolutions.
Meanwhile, the minister says committee officials should clamp down on violent protests in the country which aren’t held in accordance with national law, saying those culpable “must be taken to court.”
