PHNOM PENH - Camabodia has launched a nationwide survey on the effects of COVID-19 on garment workers ahead of annual three-way talks to set the new level of the country's minimum wage.
Ministry of Labour officials are carrying out the survey, entitled 'Living Conditions and Effects of Covid-19 on Workers or Employees in the Textile, Garment and Footwear Sector in 2020', on a random sample of workers in Phnom Penh, and several other provinces, until the end of this month.
Factory owners, who have called for the minimum wage to be frozen for a year to help them cope with the economic impact of the pandemic, have been asked to co-operate with the survey by giving inspectors access to workers.
