WAKEFIELD – Have you been unable to find time to listen to the Big Closets Small Planet podcast series that we’ve been working on with Michael Schragger from the Sustainable Fashion Academy?

If not, no worries, because the summer break (for those of us in the northern hemisphere) is a great time to catch up.

Over the past few months, we’ve posted six new podcasts on our website where Mike’s interviewed business innovators, thought leaders and change agents on topics ranging from financing sustainable innovations, the rise of digital fashion, tax reform and much more.

Perhaps one of the most compelling and well worth a listen was an interview with Norwegian psychologist Per Espen Stoknes who talked about the psychology behind economics. Stoknes lifts the lid on why clear-cut science driving the message of urgent climate action continues to fall on deaf ears – especially in industries such as fashion and textiles.

Meanwhile, three industry pioneers join our host Mike to discuss the potential of circular models such as clothing resale and subscription rental in this series of podcasts. Gwen Cunningham, Lead of Circle Economy’s Textiles Programme and Switching Gear Project, Jeff Denby, co-founder of The Renewal Workshop, and Sam Gillick-Daniels from WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme), give listeners the benefit of their expertise.

Other recently added podcasts include: tax reform as a tool to transform the apparel sector, busting the myth with Ecotextile News’ own Simon Glover who questions whether the production and use of clothing really does create more climate impact than that of flights and shipping combined. There’s also a podcast involving a number of experts and union representatives to better understand what is happening on the ground in apparel sourcing regions in the wake of Covid-19.

To read more about the podcasts visit the podcast series home page or download the podcast on one of your favorite podcast apps.

You can also take a look at our recently launched Ecotextile Talks ‘Behind the News’ podcast series where our journalists take an ‘on the couch’ look at the latest stories. Available on Apple, Google, Spotify and Deezer.
