PAIMIO – Scandinavia's first large scale textile waste processing plant is to open in the Finnish town on Paimio in February 2021 in a collaboration between circular economy company Rester and the Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto (LSJH) waste management service

Paimion Kehitys, the first facility in the Nordic countries to deal extensively with procession industrial waste for commercial reuse, will be able to process 12,000 tonnes of textile waste annually, which is about 10 per cent of Finland's textile waste.

The pilot plant could lead to a larger facility – capable of handling the textile waste from every household in Finland – being developed in the Turku region of Finland as early as 2023.
