PHNOM PENH – Cambodia's minimum wage for garment workers has been set at US$192 per month for next year - an increase of just US$2 - prompting criticism from trade unions.
The Ministry of Labour announced that from 1st January 2021 permanent garment and shoe factory workers would be paid at least US$192 per month while temporary workers will get US$187.
Ath Thun, president of the Cambodian Labor Confederation, said the new minimum wage failed to keep pace with inflation and that workers needed US$230-250 per month just to survive.
