XINJIANG – A new report published by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) raises new concerns over the mistreatment of Uyghur Muslims in China’s Xinjiang region, as it shows that suspected new detention centres remain in construction.

Though Chinese officials have refuted the claims, insisting the “trainees at these re-education camps have graduated”, the ASPI’s findings suggest that these minorities are instead being moved to higher-security sites, where it’s believed they’re used as forced labour to manufacture products including fashion items for the western world.
