GENEVA – The Better Work initiative says it has managed to maintain contact with garment workers across its nine country programmes throughout the COVID-19 pandemic - thanks to the telephone.
Better Work says it experimented with the latest digitial communication tools to keep up continuous worker outreach - but soon found that the best answer was regular phone calls.
The initiative, a partnership between the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation, operates in eight countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Haiti, Jordan, Nicaragua and Vietnam.
