DHAKA - Witness signatories to the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh have publicly raised concerns that its successor organisation was "woefully unprepared" to meet its responsibilities and may need to be replaced.

The Accord - the body set up to ensure garment factory safety on behalf of European brands following the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster - handed over its duties to a new body, the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) earlier this year.

However, four witness signatories to the Accord - the Clean Clothes Campaign, International Labor Rights Forum/Global Labor Justice, Maquila Solidarity Network, and Worker Rights Consortium - fear that progress toward factory safety in Bangladesh is now at risk.
