VÄXJÖ – Swedish pulp and paper giant Södra has successfully increased the amount of used textiles in its OnceMore dissolving pulp - which combines wood cellulose with textile waste to produce fabric for new garments - to 20 per cent.

The company, which aims to increase the proportion of recycled textiles to 50 per cent by 2025, said its latest achievement was a significant step towards more sustainability in the fashion industry.

Södra launched OnceMore in 2019 with just three per cent recycled textile content but has been working ever since to increase the recycled content of the new material which is produced at its mill near the town of Mörrum.
