PHOENIX – Nylon manufacturer Aquafil has partnered with carpet collections network Planet Recycling as it looks to close the loop on carpet recycling and make a dent in the estimated four billion pounds of flooring textiles which enter US landfill sites each year.
Aquafil has two carpet recycling sites in California capable of processing up to 36 million pounds of such material per annum, and by working with Planet Recycling, it ensures a consistent stream of pre-sorted recyclable content.
“The combination of Aquafil and Planet Recycling’s expertise enables us to create a unique carpet recycling loop across the entire supply chain from collection to recycling and fibre manufacturing,” said Franco Rossi, president of Aquafil USA.
