WELLINGTON – A new review of circularity in the New Zealand textile and clothing sectors has provided baseline information that could be a useful template for how much larger regions could start to build a circular economy for their own industries

Produced by local consultancy The Formary, the new 60-page report notes that 380,000 tonnes of textile products, fabric and fibre are imported into Aotearoa (New Zealand) every year with most of this eventually ending up in landfill.

As a result, the report calls for improved data capture to enable better resource management and provide the information needed to support investment in infrastructure and technologies around circularity.
