WASHINGTON DC - Campaigners against the use of forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China - the country's cotton hub - have written to leading brands demanding they reveal their stance on a US bill aimed at banning imports from the region.

The Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region claims that some brands are lobbying against the proposed Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act which would ban imports of all products from Xinjiang under the “legal presumption” they were made with forced labour.

It has written to leading companies – including Adidas, Amazon, Gap, Inditex, Kohl’s, L Brands, Nike, Nordstrom, PVH, Ross, Target, TJX and Walmart – demanding that they "come clean".
