AMES – With an emphasis on the word ‘may’, a recent study suggests that organic cotton production in the USA may reduce some of the environmental problems caused during intensive conventional cotton farming.

However, some of the findings by academics at Iowa State University and the Organic Center in Washington DC are qualified due to a lack of evidence and also include calls for more research, notably in weed management and soil carbon sequestration.
