ACCRA – A new ‘model factory’ is to be established in Ghana that will set high standards for fair wages and working conditions, whilst creating job opportunities for the country’s female garment workers.
The project is being managed by the US Agency for International Development’s (USAID) West Africa Trade and Investment Hub (Trade Hub), which will utilise funds made available by the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity initiative.
As many as 800 people will be employed at the site once it’s been erected, with at least 70 per cent of new supervisory and factory jobs to be targeted at women.
