TRENTO - Italian nylon manufacturer Aquafil and Japanese trading company Itochu have announced a strategic partnership to promote and expand circular nylon production.

The agreement will use Itochu's extensive nylon value chain to expand the global use of Aquafil's Econyl regenerated nylon which is made entirely from ocean and landfill waste.

Aquafil turns recovered nylon waste, such as fishing nets, carpets and post-industrial waste, back to caprolactam (CPL). It then eliminates impurities through its proprietary chemical recycling technology to achieve regenerated nylon comparable to virgin quality material.
