PARMA – A new report published by the European Food Safety Authority and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has advised that mink farms around the world introduce stringent COVID-19 testing infrastructure both for humans and animals.

The recommendations come off the back of a warning from the World Health Organization, which stated that the risk of the virus spreading remains high on fur farms.

It’s reported that SARS-CoV-2, a strain of the coronavirus, has been detected on as many as 400 farms across eight countries. Animal rights group PETA has previously said that “any area that still farms mink could well be the next Wuhan”.
