ARTEIXO - Zara owner Inditex has partnered with the DBS Bank in Singapore to launch a pilot programme which will provide finance to more than 2,000 farmers in India to grow organic cotton.

The partnership, which aims to upscale India's organic cotton industry, will leverage local farmer producer organisations (FPOs) to reach the farmers in the fashion giant's supply chain.

Despite being the world's largest producer of cotton, and of organic cotton, only about two per cent of the total amount of cotton produced in India is organic.
