CAIRO - Police have launched an investigation after at least 20 people were killed and another 24 injured in a fire at a garment factory in Egypt.

The cause of the blaze, at a four-storey factory in the Obour industrial zone north of the capital city of Cairo, has not yet been identified.

However, the owner of the factory faces charges of not renewing the factory’s license and failing to adhere to civil protection requirements. He has been released on bail of 50,000 Egyptian pounds (US$3,178).
