AMSTERDAM - A new report from the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile (AGT) reveals the difference between minimum wage and living wage in nearly 50 garment and textile industry countries.
AGT says the report, compiled using data provided by WageIndicator and the Global Living Wage Coalition, aims to help companies understand the difference between the two measures so as to aim to bridge the gap.
It reveals that the minimum wage - the least that workers can be paid by law - is 50 per cent of the living wage - the amount needed to meet basic living costs - in Bangladesh, for example.
