LONDON – Animal rights group Four Paws has ranked 38 leading apparel brands based on their commitments to banning the controversial practice of mulesing within their supply chains.

Rankings range from ‘mulesing-free champions’ including Patagonia and Ortovox to ‘black sheep’ Max Mara and Escada.

Rebecca Picallo Gil, a wool campaign manager at Four Paws, said: “We are calling on fashion brands to take responsibility for the health of sheep throughout the supply chain. This includes publicly committing to switch to alternative materials and/or certified non-mulesed wool in the coming years. This is the only way to end the suffering of millions of lambs.”
