LONDON - The world’s leading fashion brands are failing to safeguard workers in their supply chains from forced labour, according to a new study from the KnowTheChain initiative.

KnowTheChain ranked 37 of the world’s biggest apparel and footwear companies on their efforts to tackle forced labour and found that - while scores were up on previous years - the average score was still less than 50 per cent.

Two of the largest luxury goods companies, Kering - which owns Alexander McQueen and Gucci - and LVMH - owner of Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton - were picked out for criticism, along with retail giants Amazon and Walmart.
