PHNOM PENH – Cambodia is continuing its post-pandemic rebuild by paying almost US$15 million to establish three new manufacturing sites in the country.
The factories are expected to generate upwards of 3,000 jobs, adding to the 800+ that two new sites – detailed earlier this month – will create for workers in Cambodia’s resurging apparel manufacturing industry.
Ken Loo, secretary-general of the Garment Manufacturers of Cambodia (GMAC) trade body, told native outlet The Khmer Times: “Such investment amid the COVID-19 outbreak demonstrates confidence of investors in Cambodia’s macroeconomic, political and social stability though threatened by the pandemic.”
