TEXAS – US apparel retailer JC Penney has become the latest firm to join the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s (EMF) Jeans Redesign Project.

All signatories – including the likes of H&M, Levi’s and Tommy Hilfiger – pledge to work by guidelines that establish minimum requirements on garment durability, material health, recyclability and traceability.

Briana Seferian, senior designer of specialty women’s apparel at JC Penney, said: “With this initiative and part of our ongoing sustainability commitment, we are steadily building long-term sustainability into our products, processes, and practices to offer our customers the best products with less environmental impact and in the most ethical, safe, and sustainable ways available.”
