STOCKHOLM – Textile recycling innovator Renewcell has acquired new recycling equipment from machinery group Andritz in advance of the launch of its new plant in Sundsvall, Sweden.
The company has previously claimed that the facility – due to start operating in the first half of 2022 – will be a ‘world first’ which could save hundreds of millions of garments from landfill and incineration each year.
Renewcell’s patented technology chemically recycles garments with high cellulosic content to yield virgin-equivalent raw material for reuse.
