DHAKA – A research project that explores the upscaling of pineapple fibres to use in industrial yarns has successfully completed a first test run; which it’s hoped can pave the way for south east Asian-based stakeholders involved in the project to pioneer new ways to make textiles more sustainably. 

While the development of yarns made from pineapple waste are not new, Hong Kong-based corporate social responsibility advocate, Consulting Service International (CSI) says the results of its first test runs prove the technology is scalable and could quickly reach an industrial level within the next year.
