DHAKA – Workers’ rights NGO Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) has launched a public tracker in a bid to spotlight the companies committed to a new legal framework in the shape of the Accord on Fire and Building Safety, and those that it deems “an obstacle to progress in the field of worker safety”.
It comes ahead of August 31st, by which date it was hoped that a binding agreement between brands and unions would have finalised that’d enshrine brands’ legal accountability to protect workers.
Thus far, the likes of ASOS, Uniqlo and Esprit have been praised for demonstrating their willingness to sign such an agreement, while H&M and Bestseller haven’t yet decided.
